Unfortunately, it is much easier to
throw things out than littering them as necessary for many people around the
world. This ends up with dirty seas, lakes, creeks, and oceans. The impact of
the plastics –and other
noxious wastes to name- thrown into waters on the aquatic beings is so much that many
people remain desperate, although there are good developments resulting from
the efforts of the scientific world. In our opinion, they are about to end plastic
pollution at waters in a few decades.
However, some people and
organizations are aware of the fact that immediate actions must be taken. Ocean
Conservancy (https://oceanconservancy.org/)
is one of them and has initiated the largest international cleanup program. The
organization asserts that 12 million people have taken part in the program and
it is counting.
You can volunteer with them or alone
at anywhere. The website offers opportunities for finding a site nearby you. By
the way, it is a wonderful way of exercising. You will feel the nice physical tiredness
when you get back home.
Notes of the website
Nearly 12 million people and counting have been part
of the world’s biggest volunteer effort to protect the ocean. Will you join us
this year?
Today, plastic has been found in 62% of all
sea birds and in 100% of sea turtle species.
A problem as big as plastic in the ocean
requires a big response! By participating in the International Coastal Cleanup,
you can make a difference. You’ll join millions of volunteers just like you,
who love the ocean and want to protect it. This year’s International
Coastal Cleanup is Saturday, September
16th, 2017.
